Florida head coach Jim McElwain addressed reporters after Wednesday’s practice in his final media availability before his squad travels to Kentucky (3-0, 1-0 SEC). The way he sees it, the Gators will be facing the division leader.
“Obviously (Tennessee was) an emotional game and now getting ready to go on the road playing a team right now that's in the driver's seat in the East,” McElwain said. “These guys won an Eastern conference game on the road. Now they get to come home and obviously as all our goals are: win all your home games.”
McElwain acknowledged that UF would takeover the driver’s seat in the division with a win on the road.
“I think anytime anybody does that, that’s absolutely correct,” McElwain said. “I think any coach will tell you that. Now, what does the driver’s seat mean? It means you’ve got to go the next one, right? It simply means that. But at the same time, you sure put yourself in a position to be at that spot toward the end.”
