While the Gators men’s basketball team competed in Orlando in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday and Saturday, Florida football was hard at work in Gainesville during spring practices.

After jumping into shells Thursday afternoon, the Gators put on full pads for the first time all spring Saturday.

“Probably on account of our (Tuesday) practice coming out of spring break, which I thought was OK,” Florida head coach Jim McElwain. “Kind of to be expected, but there was actually some better things once we watched the video than what I anticipated, then we were able to get the pads on. Saturday's practice was really good, especially in some situational things.”

McElwain had plenty of praise to go around for multiple position groups on the roster Monday, but he notably lauded Florida’s play across the board on the offensive side of the ball in recent practices. The quarterback position has been a big storyline throughout the spring, and on Monday he discussed how redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask have fared in recent days.
