Offers keep pouring in for four-star shooting guard Luguentz Dort

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Luguentz Dort was unable to suit up this week at the NBPA Top 100 Camp due to a minor hand injury, but it hasn’t held back his recruitment.

A 6-foot-4 scoring guard that brings a blue-collared mentality to the court, Dort spoke on the recent uptick within his recruitment.

“I got 12 offers from the last two open sessions,” Dort said. “Miami, Michigan State, Oregon, West Virginia, Indiana, Baylor, and Florida; there are a lot.

“I would say that they are all even right now.”

IN HIS WORDS

Indiana: “I just talked to coach (Bruiser) Flint today. They really want me to play point guard and shooting guard. They are telling me that they can get me to where I want to be. The new head coach (Archie Miller), I really like. He has been telling me good things about Indiana.”

Oregon: “I know Chris Boucher for a good time now since we are from the same neighborhood. I feel like they do a good job of dealing with Canadians.”

Florida: “They have been recruiting me for a good time now. I am always going to keep them in my mind.”

Miami: “I went to the campus, which I really like. It is a nice city with good weather and really good coaches. I will keep them in my mind, too.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Dort will continue to sift through the recruiting process, though he does have an idea of how he would like for things to go in the weeks ahead.

“I will probably begin my official visits at the end of June or the beginning of July,” he said. “I would like to take a visit to Indiana and Oregon. I will probably make a decision at the end of the summer.”

Dort will finish out his summer with the Brookwood Bounce Elite 17-under team on the adidas circuit this July.

RIVALS’ REACTION

Dort is a hard-playing, well-rounded combo guard that can create for others and himself, but also has the toughness, size and strength to guard each perimeter position.

When it comes to selecting a college, look for Oregon to be the favorite. The Ducks have put in a lot of time and energy in recruiting the Canadian guard as others, including Miami, Baylor and Florida, should also be seen as potential landing spots.
