Out-of-state tackle is Floridas 11th commitment

Philadelphia (Pa.) Martin Luther King three-star offensive tackle Dontae Angus originally was set to make his first visit to Gainesville this weekend for Florida's annual Friday Night Lights Camp.
During the visit the plan was that he was set to give the Gators his verbal commitment.

On Wednesday night Angus gave Inside the Gators a call to say he would not be making the trip, but he still had some good news to share.
"I committed to Florida tonight," said Angus. "Everyone where I am from knows who [former Gators and current Minnesota Viking] Sharrif Floyd is and knows what he did at UF. I wanted to go to the same school as him because he was a first round draft pick."
When Angus decided to the pull the trigger he gave head coach Will Muschamp and offensive line coach Tim Davis the good news first.
"They were both so amped up," laughed Angus. "They were probably more excited than I was to be honest. Coach Muschamp said him and Coach [Tim] Davis wouldn't be able to sleep tonight."
While the Floyd factor helped, it was coach Davis who was an instrumental part of the 6-foot-6, 330-pounders decision to take his talents to Gainesville.
"The first time he came by the school to see me he was just so happy," said the Philadelphia big man of Davis. He was interested in me and nothing else. I told him a long ago that I wanted to be a Gator. I saw Sharrif have a tough life and then make it because he went to Florida."
Though Angus has the build of an offensive tackle, he noted the Gators were looking at him on the defensive side of the ball.
"They want me to play defense right now just like Sharrif," said Angus with excitement. "I am excited to go on the same path as him and make it my own."
So when exactly will the Gators newest commitment take his long awaited trip to the Swamp?
"I believe I will be taking my official visit to UF sometime in December. I wanted to get down for Friday Night Lights, but I just didn't get a chance."
