Over the next couple of days, Inside the Gators will review how each position on Florida's roster has performed up to this point in the 2016 season with a matchup against Iowa in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 2 on the horizon. Today, we look at the tight ends.

OVERVIEW: With the departure of its top option at the tight end position from a year ago, redshirt senior tight end Jake McGee, Florida turned to junior DeAndre Goolsby and C'yontai Lewis for the bulk of its production at that spot this season. Florida fans figured there wouldn't be much of a drop-off at tight end with two athletic, promising options in that duo.

However, Florida's production at the tight end position slightly decreased from a year ago. After McGee, Goolsby and Lewis combined for 733 yards and seven touchdowns on 62 catches in 14 games in 2015, Goolsby, Lewis and redshirt sophomore Moral Stephens combined for 513 yards and four touchdowns on 55 grabs in 12 games.

Many expected Goolsby to be in line for a breakout year as a junior - and while his stats are better than they were from his sophomore season, Goolsby was much more productive during the first half of the year than the second (minus the Alabama game where he caught seven balls for a a season-best 91 yards and a touchdown).
