On Monday a two-week dead period in recruiting concluded, bringing with it plenty of big news on the recruiting front - including several coveted prospects visiting Florida as well as some Gators commits making news by scheduling visits elsewhere.
On Saturday Florida will host one of the most sought after prospects in the nation when five-star defensive end Nick Bosa stops by campus. The Gators have targeted St. Thomas Aquinas since the new staff has been in place, and defensive line coach Chris Rumph has been aggressively recruiting Bosa. Despite the Gators' efforts the Rivals100 lineman is a heavy lean to Ohio State, where his brother Nick plays. Bosa is also expected to visit Florida State after his time in Gainesville.
The Gators hosted another five-star on campus on Thursday when Tampa (Fla.) Catholic wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers. Florida has been trying to gain traction with the Rivals100 pass catcher for some time now, but really haven't made much headway. There is talk that Craig-Myers will return to Gainesville for Friday Night Lights next weekend with his brother Jayvaughn Myers, who also holds an offer from the Gators.
Joining Craig-Myers on campus Thursday was his teammate, 2017 Miami four-star commit Tre McKitty - a self admitted fan of the Gators. Florida didn't have the entire staff on campus on Thursday, so the duo only was able to meet with Chris Rumph and tight ends coach Greg Nord. McKitty plans to be back at UF for Friday Night Lights next weekend and though he says he is firm in his commitment to the Hurricanes, with just under two years left in his recruiting process, he is still listening to others.
The Gators will host two five-star defenders later this month. On July 31st. Alabama five-star's Lyndell Wilson and Marlon Davidson are scheduled to take unofficial visits to Florida. This is the first time the two Rivals100 members will visit Gainesville. Heading into the trip Alabama is spoke of as the leader in the clubhouse. Joining those two big names on the visit will be safety Jeawon Taylor, who was offered by UF recently, and 2018 offensive tackle Marcus Jones, who also holds an offer from the Gators.
Since recommitting to Florida a couple of months ago, Rivals100 cornerback Chauncey Gardner has been expected to visit other schools down the road. Recently Gardner took to social media to post his official visits schedule for the fall. Schools that he will see are Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, Penn State, and finally Florida. Despite the visits Gardner seems solid in his commitment to Florida and has been actively talking the Gators up to other recruits.

Speaking of Florida commits taking visits, though he at first said he wouldn't officially visit anywhere other than Gainesville, now running back Mark Thompson has had a change of heart, saying he wants to take the visits to experience new environments. Schools that Thompson mentioned visits along with Florida this fall include Alabama, Georgia and Arizona.
And finally, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines three-star defensive end commit JaQuan Bailey is unofficially visiting Louisville this weekend along with his brother.
The Gators hosted two of the nations top offensive linemen on campus Wednesday when Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll duo Jauan Williams and Richard Merritt stopped by UF while in the Sunshine State. The Gators have been heavily recruiting both prospects, and finally got the two on campus for the first time this week. The Gators lack of depth along the offensive line is keeping UF in the game here, but it feels like Florida still has some work to do here to be serious contenders in the end. 2017 Rivals100 cornerback Deon Jones accompanied the duo on the visit to Gainesville. He has an offer from the Gators and is friends with current Florida corner Jalen Tabor, but Auburn is the school rumored to the team to beat at this time.
Early on the list of visitors for Friday Night Lights is shaping up to be a good one. A few names coming in that are committed to other programs are Rivals100 wide receiver Sam Bruce (Miami), offensive lineman Chris Barnes (UGA), 2017 Miami commit McKitty, and 2017 Miami linebacker commit Tyler Dunning. USC 2016 commit Velus Jones was at one time planning to attend the event, but had a change of plans a few days later saying he would be unable to make it down. Look for 2017 quarterback commit Jake Allen to continue to recruit hard for the Gators as well as he is bringing his 2017 five-star teammate Trevon Grimes, one of the top wide outs for his class.
