Recruiting Wire: Two new offers extended

Florida is trying to get in the mix with New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker five-star wide out Devonta Jason - who said that Dan Mullen text him not long after he was hired.

He told Pelican Preps here on the Rivals network that his top four are Kansas (where he is currently committed), LSU, MSU and now Florida.

On Sunday evening Florida extended two new offers. Linebacker Chauncey Manac was a Rivals250 member who signed with Georgia out of high school, but attended Garden City C.C.

The other offer went out to wide out Caleb Chapman, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound four-stare wide receiver who is currently committed to Texas A&M.

Though he is committed to Tennessee, Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown four-star defensive back Trey Dean is coming off an official visit to Alabama and will take one to Florida.

Tight end commit Dante Lang and recent decommit, wide out Jacob Copeland, posted photos to their Twitter accounts of Florida coaches visiting them.

Florida commit, Miami (Fla.) BTW wide out, Taquan Thornton is taking an official visit to Baylor this weekend.

Yuma (Az.) Arizona Western C.C. 6-foot-6, 320-pound defensive tackle Noah Jefferson has been offered by Florida.

Jefferson originally signed with Southern Cal as a four-star coming out of high school in Las Vegas.

Florida has extended an offer to River Ridge (La.) John Curtis three-star tight end Glenn Beal. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder has offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami and Texas A&M.

Florida head coach Dan Mullen and retained running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider are on the road in Georgia this afternoon visiting with record setting running back Dameon Pierce.

New (or old, depending on how you look at it) Florida assistant coach Billy Gonzales is two-for-two today in getting four-star wide outs who are committed to Mississippi State to do the Gator Chomp while he is visiting them.

Raymond (Ms.) Hinds CC wide out Stephen Guidry tweeted out both he and Gonzales doing the Chomp during a visit earlier today.

Florida lost another 2019 commitment when Dunnellon (Fla.) Rivals100 wide out/tight end Maurice Goolsby decided to open things back up again.

New Florida assistant coach Billy Gonzales stopped in on current Mississippi State four-star wide receiver commit Jackson (Ms.) Callaway' Malik Heath.

Heath was offered by the Gators on Monday.

On his first official day on the job new head coach Dan Mullen has hit the ground running when it comes to recruiting. This evening he offered yet another four-star wide out committed to Mississippi State. This time being Jackson (Ms.) Callaway Rivals250 wide out Malik Heath.

Over the weekend Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia Rivals250 wide out Jacob Copeland decommitted from Florida. On Monday evening he was one of the first calls made by new Florida head coach Dan Mullen.
