Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Mobile DB MVP is set to visit the Gators

MOBILE, Ala.Collin Duncan showed up Sunday with his game-face on. This young man loves to compete and work to improve his craft at defensive back. The junior out of Montgomery (Ala.) St. James checked in at 5-feet, 11-inches tall, 188 pounds and a 76.5-inch wingspan.

That size and his play in 2017 appealed to the Florida Gators and the new staff extended an offer recently.

"I talked to coach Sal (Sal Sunseri, defensive line) and a couple of the other coaches and I got great feedback," said Duncan.

"When I talked to coach Sal on the phone, he talked to me how they liked my film, how they liked my speed and aggression and then he told me about the offer. It was a blessing."

Duncan had an older brother (CJ Duncan) who played at Vanderbilt, so he knows all about Florida and the SEC. He is excited about getting down there for his first visit to the Swamp too.

"Florida is a school that produces defensive backs, so I have real interest in them. The program's name speaks for itself and they are up there for me. I do not have a one, two, three or four yet, but with this offer, Florida is definitely up there near the top now.

"I will know more after the visit in a couple of weeks. When I go down there on March 16, I want to see the campus and what the atmosphere is like there."

Troy recently offered Duncan as well and he has held offers from South Carolina, UAB and Vanderbilt for some time. Missouri has started to show interest and new schools are popping up every week now, so Duncan may not commit as early as he once expected to.

"I would like to relax my senior year, so I have thought about committing over the summer, but I am not sure if that will happen or not yet," said Duncan. "My recruiting is picking up a little bit, so we will see what happens. New schools are talking to me, so I may wait a little longer, but I am not sure yet.

"Nothing is coming soon. I know that. We will see what happens later."

What did happen already was Duncan giving a strong performance at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas in Mobile. He walked away with the MVP award for defensive backs.

"My goal for the day was to be the best that I could be, so getting the MVP award feels great. I wanted to show anyone that had questions about me what I could do and why I am one of the top defensive backs in the state of Alabama.

"I came to compete, go hard and I reached my goal. I finished strong each play. I know I could have had a couple more interceptions on the day, but I broke up a lot of passes and I locked some top receivers up. I have high standards for myself, so I know I could have done better, but I had a good day."
