The latest: Gainer names no leader but lives just miles away from Florida State’s Tallahassee campus and showed up to the camp in FSU sandals. He’s going to investigate a number of schools, including Alabama. If the Tide push hard down the stretch, FSU may need to fight a little to land the local product.

Prediction: Florida State will be tough to top here. The Seminoles have been in good position with Gainer for a long time. The program’s on-field success combined with Gainer’s proximity to campus will be hard to toss aside.

The latest: Sherwood is on record saying that he doesn’t intend to leave the state of Florida for college unless it’s for LSU or Alabama. Even then, however, the Tide or Tigers would have a fight on their hands.

Prediction: Sherwood seems to be particularly interested in Miami. If he had to sign today, it would likely be with the Hurricanes.

The latest: Burney has options. He holds a long list of offers from major schools spanning conferences and time zones. It seems like it will either be Florida or Ohio State for the four-star prospect and he will announce his decision before the upcoming season.

Prediction: Betting against Urban Myer is hard, but the local appeal gives Florida the edge here. There’s not much confidence in this prediction, however, as Burney landing at Ohio State would be less than shocking.

The latest: Briggs’ recruitment is just now starting to take off. The programs out in front are Miami, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin and South Carolina. Briggs will welcome in more offers before making a choice.

Prediction: Miami only recently offered Briggs and jumped up near the top of his list immediately. It’s early in the process, so a commitment prediction won’t carry a ton of weight, but Miami is the smart money for the time being.

The latest: Barnes says that he has no leader but people have assumed he’ll land at Florida for some time. He has family ties to North Carolina, which is also heavily involved.

Prediction: Florida. It’s going to take an incredibly poor season or some other unexpected occurrence by UF to lose Barnes at this point.

The latest: Penix holds a handful of offers but the fact that he is likely to garner a bunch more makes predicting his college path tricky. A number of variables exist, but Tennessee and Oregon seem like the frontrunners at this juncture.

Prediction: Tennessee … or a school that has yet to offer. The Vols will likely land Penix if all things remain equal, but if heavy hitters arrive with late offers, that projection can quickly change.

The latest: Milton is another prospect that is just now starting to make major recruiting waves. He’s picking up offers at an incredible clip and his popularity among coaches in on the rise. He holds plenty of offers as things stand and will likely collect more soon. He names no leader.

Prediction: Florida … or South Carolina. If Florida State offers, you can pencil the Seminoles into the group. For now, however, we’ll put Florida in the top spot.
