Rivals100 Burns talks Thursday visit with Florida coaches

On the first day of the contact period the Florida coaching staff was all over the Southeast checking in on multiple top recruiting targets. One of the many prospects the Gators staff visited was Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage defensive end Brian Burns.

“It was Coach [Randy] Shannon and Coach [Chris] Rumph,” said Burns of the visit from the UF staff. “They didn’t really say anything different. Just about their scheme and how they want me at the same position. They were telling me about the new players they signed they have on campus. At this people they know me good enough, it’s not so much about football.”

It’s been Florida assistant Chris Rumph that has lead the charge for the Rivals100 defender. According to Burns, he and Rumph have gotten very close over the last several months the Gators have been after him.

“He’s a great dude and a good coach and I feel really good and comfortable talking to him. I really believe everything he tells me, so I just like him a lot as a person and a coach.”

Despite having two commitments at the RUSH position at this time, Burns said it won't hurt the Gators chances to land him.

“It doesn’t hurt them, I am all good with competition,” said Burns. “The better players on campus the better of a player they would make me. They said they still see me as a top target and they want me to come rush off the edge.”

This coming weekend the 6-foot-5, 217-pounder will visit the University of Georgia for an official visit. The Bulldogs at one time were Burns outright leader, but after a major coaching change Burns claims Florida, Florida State, and UGA are all even. During his visit to Athens this coming weekend Burns is hoping to spend time with the new coaching staff and some of the current players.

“They have some new people there coaching but I am going to meet them of course but mostly it’s about meeting the players and hanging out with them. I want to go up and bond with players.”

Burns will also take an official visit to Florida the weekend of January 22nd and then follow up with a January 29th visit to Florida State.

He likely will not make a commitment until National Signing Day.
