After months of speculation, on Monday evening Crawfordville (Fla.) Wakulla Rivals100 quarterback Feleipe Franks did as many expected, he backed off his longtime commitment to the LSU Tigers. The Gators have stayed after the four-star passer since the arrival of Jim McElwain, and look to be the team to beat fresh off his split with the Tigers.
What's Next: The No. 39 rated prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com has been to the last two Florida home games and is planning to make a return trip yet again this weekend to watch the Gators take on in-state rival Florida State. Franks being an early enrollee will need to have a decision sooner rather than later.
In His Words: "We talk more high school, more of my stuff and my school -- more than the Gators," Franks said about his conversations with Florida head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. "They sell it a little bit, but you know, they're more interested in me and how I'm doing at my school and playoffs, my family and stuff like that. So they're really good people about it."

Blake's Take: This decommitment really didn't come as a surprise at all. He has been talking with the Florida coaches, taking trips to Gainesville and during the bye week, McElwain himself went to Frank's high school. The Gators have thrown the kitchen sink at the Rivals100 signal caller since McElwain's arrival in Gainesville and have long had Franks at the top of their board. The Gators should be considered the team to beat currently for this December graduate. With the speculation surrounding the future of LSU head coach Les Miles, combined with what should be a wide open quarterback race over the spring, it makes a lot of sense for Franks to back off his pledge. The Gators will now look to reel this big fish in.
