Florida is hoping for a strong finish to close out the 2016 recruiting cycle as National Signing day approaches. Over the course of the weekend the Gators played host to eight official visitors on campus.

One of the biggest overall targets left on the board for the Gators was on hand for his official visit.

North Charleston (SC) Fort Dorchester Rivals250 offensive guard John Simpson.

The Clemson site here on the Rivals Network was able to speak with him briefly while he was on his way back home.

“It was good,” said Simpson of the Florida visit. “I had a great time.”

It’s been Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers leading the charge for the 6-foot-4, 288-pounder. The Gators round out Simpson’s top three along with Alabama and Clemson, and according to Simpson it’s Summers who deserves a lot of credit for his interest in the Orange and Blue.

“Coach Summers is what makes Florida stand out the most to me,” said Simpson.

Simpson has already visited LSU and plans to visit Clemson and Alabama over the next two weekends.

South Carolina has been rumored to be in the hunt looking to replace either the Tigers or Crimson Tide as one of his remaining visits.
