R100 commit Carter taking three official visits

On Thursday Florida defensive line coach Chris Rumph had an in-home visit with Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough defensive end Zachary Carter. According to Carter, Rumph arrived around 8:30 p.m. and stayed roughly three hours before leaving late in the evening.

Getting a chance to sit down with his future position coach was of great benefit for the Rivals100 Gators' commit.

“It was good to have a visit with Coach Rumph in a different setting with different scenery,” explained Carter. “It’s always a good time to be around him and I enjoy him as a person and a coach. We didn’t talk much football we talked more about life and my parents and he exchanged stories. We didn’t have to talk much football because he knows I am solid to the Gators.”

During the visit, Carter's parents were able to have some of their questions answered.

“Sometimes they question me and have their own concerns as parents, but getting to meet more with him kind of eased their mind. My parents are really liking Coach Rumph and the Gators a lot. It’s a good thing.”

Over the last couple of weeks the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder has landed offers from both Alabama and Oregon. Now, those are two programs he'll visit after the dead period ends in January.

“Yeah most likely I will take those visits, but I don’t plan on flipping,” said Carter. “I just want to check things out I guess. I don’t have any dates for those, but it will probably be sometime in January.”

According to the four-star big man, his official visit to Florida will be the weekend of January 20th. Carter, who has been to Gainesville many times in the past, is looking forward to what the Gators have in store for his official visit.

“I have seen everything at Florida,” said Carter. “I look forward to talking more with the coaches about my place in their defense because the coaches always tell me to come in ready. They want me to make an instant impact at defensive end.”

Earlier this week, Carter moved up 10 spots in the latest Rivals rankings, up to No. 78 nationally. This past season Carter recorded 60 tackles and 8.5 sacks, which was a big part in his bump.

“I don’t focus too much on the rankings, but it’s pretty cool just to see your hard work pay off. I just want to get some big time guys to come with me to UF.”
