When Florida offered defensive tackle Jordon Scott earlier this month the Largo (Fla.) Pinellas Park big man wasn't shy about the fact that he was leaning toward the Gators' Public Enemy No. 1 – the Florida State Seminoles.

However, since that offer the Gators have been out to see him twice this spring, with the final visit coming last Thursday for his spring game, and stayed in contact via text messages and social media.

That constant attention allowed Florida to close the gap. So much so that in an article run on Inside the Gators earlier Wednesday, the three-star called Florida and Florida State his top two.

By this evening though, only one team was still left standing.

After mulling things over for the last several weeks, Scott went ahead and pulled the trigger, committing to the Gators on Wednesday.

“It’s always been somewhere I’ve wanted to go and it’s bee of the coaches every day. They have made me feel like that is where I want to be so en my dream school since Tebow was there. They offered me and I usually talk to onI chose to commit.”

When the 6-foot, 345-pounder first gave the good news of his intentions to commit to the Orange and Blue he called defensive line coach Chris Rumph. According to Scott the Gators assistant was incredibly pleased to hear of his newest addition to the Class of 2017.

“Every other day he asks me if I am ready to be a Gator, so today I called him this time and said “Coach I am ready to be a Gator”. He was just 'turnt' and excited for me.”

After getting shut out at the position during the last cycle, the Gators have a huge need along the interior of the defensive line this time around, and Scott has high expectations for himself when he finally is able to suit up for Florida.

“I am an early enrollee, so I am hoping to get ahead and I am going in with the mindset to play day one.”

Going forward Scott is looking to visit Gainesville the weekend of June 3rd.
