HOOVER, Ala. -- Florida wasn't part of SEC Media Days Tuesday, but that doesn't mean the Gators weren't part of the conversation. Inside the Gators has included some of the quotes of the day that involved the team from Gainesville.
Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope on the intrigue of a Florida vs. Texas A&M match-up for each state: "I think that's a good point that obviously Florida puts out so many great football players as well as Texas. It's kind of like a home turf deal, you know? It's a big game. We'd like to get them at Kyle Field and they get to experience what it's all about and how we do it at Kyle Field. It will be interesting for sure. From a recruiting standpoint, I think it will be interesting."
Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin on the Florida game: "For Florida, we will have these guys ready to go. I think that (Will Muschamp) hired one of the best offensive minds out there as his offensive coordinator, and he's been a good friend of mine. I think they'll do some things different offensively, but defensively obviously we'll have a lot of energy. We've got some good players and because (Muschamp) has been around he knows that. He's been in this stadium before. I think that helps him. Schematically, defensively we watch a lot of that video. Offensively, they're going to be completely different."
SEC commissioner Mike Slive on "signature home games" for new conference members: "Our transition team was able to provide signature home games for our new members inaugural contest. We're all looking forward to Sept. 8, when A&M hosts Florida and Missouri hosts Georgia. Both games will be televised on ESPN and played in front of enthusiastic home crowds in College Station and Columbia."
South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier: "I'll always be a Gator, but I'm not really a Gator right now."
Texas A&M linebacker Sean Porter on playing Florida to start SEC play: "It'll be exciting because it's our field. We'll have the 12th man and our student section will be standing the entire game. I think it will be exciting. It's 2 p.m. so it will be hot. We're used to that Texas heat, but it's hot in Florida, too. It'll be a good game."
