One day after flying back from New York, where they made the semifinals of the ACC tournament, the Florida State men's basketball team learned it won't have to travel nearly as far for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

As expected, the Seminoles will be heading to Orlando as the No. 3 seed in the West Regional. They will face No. 14 seed Florida-Gulf Coast (26-7) in the first round on Thursday -- the game will air on cable channel TNT at approximately 9:30 p.m.

If FSU wins that, the 'Noles will be paired with the winner of No. 6 seed Maryland (24-8) and No. 11 seed Xavier (21-13) on Saturday.

"It doesn't really matter where we are or who we play," FSU coach Leonard Hamilton said, minutes after the field was announced. "Once you're in the tournament, you're playing against all great teams. They're all going to be well-prepared, loaded with talent.

Gonzaga (32-1) is the No. 1 seed in the West bracket.

This will mark FSU's first NCAA appearance since the 2011-12 season. The Seminoles are 25-8 and ranked No. 16 in the country.
