Social Slant: Florida commit announces top eight

Though he’s been committed to Florida for almost a year now Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington four-star offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort hasn't exactly been sitting on the sideline when it comes to entertaining contact with potential suitors.

On Friday he took to social media to announce that despite his pledge to the Gators, he has a top eight.

What’s Next: It’s been almost a year since Telfort last visited Gainesville, and since then he’s continued to rake in offer after offer. He hasn’t been very open to visiting other schools over the spring and summer months minus a few trips here and there to the University of Miami, the school he was committed to previously before flipping to UF last year.

In His Words: “Miami's still in it,” Telfort replied to Canesport when asked if the Hurricanes could potentially flip him.

Blake’s Take: Though it seems silly for a committed prospect to post a list of top schools (see Florida quarterback commit Jake Allen's take below), this seems to be a trend nowadays. Pre-spring, there would have been more fire to this smoke. There was more of a possibility of a decommitment a couple of months ago, but Florida was able to firm up his commitment. And now, though Telfort may have released a list of top schools, this is really a two-team race at the moment.

The one program that does appear to be Florida's biggest competition is Miami. He has visited there several times since he has last stepped foot on Florida's campus and is admittedly listening to their sale's pitch.

Despite visits elsewhere and silly top eights, the Gators staff feels very confident they can keep this four-star in the fold going forward.
