During Florida's Football Media Day Inside the Gators asked a returning player to comment on the signees from their position.
Damien Jacobs on Trenton Brown:
"He is a big boy but he is slimming down. Bigger guys don't like to get going, but he has guys pushing him. I probably hang out with him more than any other the other guys outside of football and think us working together will rub off. I just wish he could have gotten in this spring."
Tyler Moore on Cameron Dillard:
"Just working with him a little bit, he's eager to learn and he's a hard worker and everything. I just think, of course, he needs to continue to grow and continue to get more experience, but I think he'll be a good player in the end."
Moore on Octavius Jackson:
"Really eager. I worked with him in the weight room here and there. He's ready to work and he's ready to learn."
Hunter Joyer on Adam Lane:
"He's asked a lot of questions trying to pick a lot of our brains to see how things work. It's good for both him and us. He is working hard in that gym and is trying to see some play time."
Joyer on Kelvin Taylor:
"He is a hard worker and doesn't have an attitude. He listens and does what the coaches tell him to do. I couldn't say anything bad about him. He knows what his dad has done at Florida and wants to make his mark."
Quinton Dunbar on Demarcus Robinson:
"He is like my little brother and we connected as soon as he got on campus. I feel like him coming in the spring helped him to get the playbook and the tempo. He is going to be a big contributor."
Dunbar on Ahmad Fulwood, Chris Thompson and Marqui Hawkins:
"I haven't worked with them alot yet, but I can tell you that the wide outs we have here at Florida are looking to come in with a chip on our shoulder and want to come show out. We are going to try to make some plays this season."
Colin Thompson on Trevon Young:
"He is a big guy and is looking to get the plays down and try to help the team out. I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with him but he is excited to be here."
Kyle Christy on Johnny Townsend:
"I have shown him the ropes about what's going on. He has asked a lot of questions and I have tried to help him out. He's been punting really well so far. He asks a lot of technique questions."
Dominique Easley on the incoming D-linemen:
"It's good to be able to teach different guys on the team. Every one of the new guys learns a different way and that teaches me something also. It's been a good experience for me to be a mentor. I haven't gotten to bond good with a lot of them yet. What I have noticed is that they want to play and be there for the team."
Jacobs on Darious Cummings:
"Things with Darious at UF have been real smooth. Me have known each other for a while and know the way to play. I told him the expectations the coaches have for him. He came to me when he first got here to UF and I just told him he will get used to it and it's just how it is coming from JUCO. He pushed hard and is coming along."
Michael Taylor on the freshman linebackers:
"They're willing to learn. They all come in knowing they have to learn, they have to get the system down for them to step on the field. I think football is football at any level. The speed of the game does change, but you gotta be out there knowing what to do. I think they all understand the learning curve. They'll hit me or one of the older guys up, tellin' them you know let's go watch film or something. That's something we didn't do when we came in, so they're ahead of the learning curve more than we were when we were that age."
Taylor on Daniel McMillian:
"The only one we've really seen play is D-Mac [McMillian] because the other two were out during spring, so I'd say D-Mac has been impressive, he's been the only who's been playing with us out there."
Taylor on Jarrad Davis:
"He's taking the initiative. He's hit me up multiple times. He's came over to the house saying let's watch some film, let's get in the playbook. He knows the basis of the defense. That's impressive as he came in more recently, after the spring."
Jaylen Watkins on Vernon Hargreaves III:
"In 7-on-7's he's willing to learn and listen, and he's excited about learning. For a lot of freshman it takes a transition for them to really learn. I can see that he wants to learn."
Marcus Maye on Marcell Harris:
"I'm definitely excited for him. He's been here the longest outta those guys. He caught on pretty fast, he seems to know what's going on already big size. He's always been a hard worker, never complains about anything. So, I'm excited to see what he can do."
Maye on Keanu Neal:
Keanu's big too. I can see him coming down hill on somebody. He's been in the film room a lot. He asks me a lot of questions about film and the defense and stuff like that. Me and Keanu watch film together. He's definitely ready for everything."
May on Nick Washington:
"He comes in and works hard like everybody else. He's always open-eared, open-eyed, watching, listening. He seems very excited about everything and he's taking it all in. He's learning all three positions already. I'm excited about him too."
