After squaring off against Michigan and Tennessee in two of its first three games, Florida will travel to Kroger Field in Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky on Sept. 23.

The Gators have won 30 straight games against the Wildcats, currently the longest active winning streak in the nation that one team has against another opponent.

However, 2016 was an overall successful season for Kentucky, as it accomplished its first winning campaign - 7-6 (4-4 SEC) - in four years under head coach Mark Stoops. That Kentucky team returns a number of key pieces entering the 2017 season.

ITG interviewed CatsIllustrated.com publisher Justin Rowland to get his take on Kentucky coming out of spring practices, which concluded April 14. (You can follow Rowland on Twitter @RowlandRIVALS.)

After the spring, which positions do you think Kentucky feels best about on the roster heading into the 2017 season and why? On the flip side, what positions do you see as the Wildcats' biggest concerns?

Rowland: Kentucky has outstanding depth and experience on the offensive line. It was one of the best lines in the entire country last year, paving the way for an historically strong UK rushing attack and protecting the quarterback very well most weeks with few exceptions. The only player they have to replace is center Jon Toth. Almost everyone else returns, and included in that are a nice mix of very seasoned senior leaders (like starting tackles Cole Mosier and Kyle Meadows) and young, promising talents (like guard Logan Stenberg and true sophomore tackle Landon Young, the program's first five-star recruit in the Rivals.com era).

The Cats should also be pretty solid on the back seven defensively. Linebackers Denzil Ware, Josh Allen and Jordan Jones should be an outstanding trio of junior linebackers. Jones was an All-SEC pick last year and both Ware and Allen have proven themselves to be capable pass rushers who play really fast. In the secondary, strong safety Mike Edwards is a future NFL player and starting cornerbacks Chris Westry and Derrick Baity (6-foot-4 and 6-foot-2, respectively) finally have the experience to match their size and talent.
