On its off day during fall camp Wednesday, Florida announced that junior cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor and redshirt sophomore tight end C’yontai Lewis are suspended immediately from practices and team activities. Both players will also miss the season-opener against UMass on Sept. 3, according to the team’s press release.

"Both C'yontai and Jalen will not be involved with the team or practice due to behavior that is not acceptable,'' Jim McElwain said in the press release. "By no means are these bad guys and yet consequences have been handed down. We will not look the other way when it comes to breaking of team policies. I want to echo what I said earlier, these are both fine young men who will learn and be stronger from their actions.

"They will also be suspended for the first game. There are life lessons in everything we do. We will be better because of it and no one person is bigger than the Florida Gators."

Tabor, arguably Florida’s most talented player, has been working as a first-team cornerback in camp after a strong sophomore campaign in 2015. An outspoken personality both on social media and in interviews with reporters, Florida hasn’t been one to censor Tabor. Instead, it has given him the opportunity to represent Florida and build his brand this offseason with multiple media opportunities.

Meanwhile, Lewis figures to play a key role in the offense this season as a backup to junior tight end DeAndre Goolsby following a redshirt freshman season where he missed a good chunk of time with a hand injury.
