As the offense has floundered and an important stretch looms, Florida has a big decision on its hands to make at the quarterback position.

With quarterback Luke Del Rio "out for a while" with a shoulder injury, the Gators must decide whether graduate transfer Austin Appleby or one of the two freshmen, Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask, will get the starting nod this Saturday when Florida hosts South Carolina in a CBS matchup that'll air at noon ET. All three will compete for starter's reps in practice this week, with Appleby receiving the first snap with the 1's on offense.

Before the news about Del Rio's injury was announced, the Florida fan base was already growing restless as the Gators' play at the quarterback position has been poor as of recent. Since Del Rio returned from a sprained MCL, he was just 52% passing for 596 yards and two touchdowns against six interceptions in his past three starts. The offense this year reached a new low in a 31-10 road loss at Arkansas, as Del Rio tossed two picks and the group failed to score a touchdown for the first time since a 27-2 loss to FSU last November.

Florida's stale offense has lacked creativity for much of this season and at times has been unbearable to watch with Del Rio under center. But on Saturday, the Gators will trot out a different signal-caller - and it'll be interesting to see whether it turns out to be a change for the better or just much of the same at the position.

Now, Inside the Gators presents the pros and cons of each of the three remaining quarterbacks and makes the argument for each.
