After bringing in five early enrollees during the spring and two more signees from the 2017 recruiting class for the Summer A semester of classes, Florida welcomed in 15 more signees this past week before the Summer B session begins Monday. Six of those additions were defensive backs, as Florida looks to set a foundation for the future at secondary moving forward.
Today, Inside the Gators takes a closer look at those six Gators defensive back signees and how they fit on the roster this upcoming season.

The skinny: Davis originally planned on joining the Gators as an early enrollee for the spring semester but couldn't qualify academically in time. Academic qualifications also derailed his plan to then join the team for Summer A, but he managed to make it in with the rest of the signees last week. Davis offers the Gators a physical, versatile piece in the backend who could play at cornerback, nickel or safety. He figures to get started at Florida at safety but could contribute in defending the slot when the Gators defense shifts to the nickel formation.
