University of Florida Official Visitors: January 15th 2016
* Defensive back Chris Brown
Interest: Medium
Others: Arizona State, Michigan, Texas and UCLA
The Skinny: The Gators recently offered this three-star defensive back shortly after the dead period went into effect. With this being his first time in Gainesville and his relationship with the staff still being relatively new, a lot of where Florida stands with Brown will rely on how this visit goes.
* Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson
Interest: Medium
Others: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee
The Skinny: This is yet another prospect making his first ever visit to Gainesville this weekend. The staff has a need for offensive lineman in 2016 and Dickerson knows he can play early in Gainesville. The Gators haven't been mentioned with him prominently in the past, so we really won't know his interest in Florida after he comes off of this visit.
* Offensive Center Brett Heggie
Interest: Committed
Others: None
The Skinny: Heggie has been ultra solid to UF since giving the Gators his verbal pledge over the summer. The Under Armour All-American will likely be in the ear of some of his fellow visitors this weekend.
* Linebacker Dontavious Jackson
Interest: Medium
Others: Alabama, FSU, Michigan, Texas and UCLA
The Skinny: Jackson will be making his first ever visit to Gainesville this weekend (which seems to be a reoccurring theme), but his relationship with the Florida staff is not new. Jackson was offered by the Gators back in the spring and has kept in touch with linebacker coach Randy Shannon over the last several months. He is making the trip down with his teammate Chris Brown, who has taken a lot of the same visits as Jackson.
* Linebacker Jaleel Laguins
Interest: Medium
Others: Georgia (commit) and Tennessee
The Skinny: The coaching staff turnover in Athens has caused Laguins to look around a little bit. The Gators visited him right before the dead period and now hope to build off that visit by hosting him on campus this weekend. Tennessee is pretty confident in where they stand with Laguins as well.
* Defensive end Jachai Polite
Interest: Committed
Others: Southern Cal
The Skinny: Polite will visit Gainesville this weekend, but is also is expected to check out Southern Cal at some point as well. The Trojans have had success at Polite’s school in the past (Leonard Williams), so they are a team to watch. The Gators will likely try to knock that visit out west off of his agenda this weekend.
* Offensive guard John Simpson
Interest: High
Others: Alabama and Clemson
The Skinny: For the longest time it’s been Clemson who was thought to be a given come commitment time when Simpson is mentioned. However, in recent weeks there has been talk that Simpson isn’t quite the done deal to the Tigers as some thought. Of his top three of Alabama, Clemson and Florida it seems that Florida and Clemson are the biggest competitors here. Will South Carolina sneak into the picture with their newly hired staff?
* Offensive guard Jawaan Taylor
Interest: Committed
Others: Auburn and Miami
The Skinny: In the past Taylor has mentioned taking visits to Auburn and Miami at some point before Signing Day. However fast forward to now and Taylor seems pretty solid with the Gators. Taylor still mentioned possible visits to both programs in his last interview with Rivals.com, but if his visit to UF impresses this weekend like we expect, it’s likely his time in Gainesville will persuade him from checking out other campuses.
