He talked about liking the Gators last spring, but then when it came to camp time over the summer, he made it to Florida State but not to Florida. UF continued to be on his list throughout the year as his offer list grew. The Gators will need to make an impression this spring and finally get him on campus if they hope to be a factor.

It was a Florida-Miami battle before he committed to the Hurricanes. However, while still committed to UM, he sounded more like a Gators lean. That was all during the previous coaching staff. What happens this spring with the new staff will tell us whether Florida is still in a prime spot for him.

He was scheduled to visit Florida for Friday Night Lights and then again for a game this fall, but didn't make it in. He continues to list the Gators as a possibility, but at some point UF will need to get him on campus.

Florida went to see him and offered during the 2017 spring evaluation period. He was impressed with the offer at that point and said he wanted to check out the Gators. He has 14 months still to do so.

Though he is from Louisiana, Florida looked like a legitimate option early on. Whether that remains to be the case could depend upon Tim Skippers fate with the Gators.

The one time Florida commit was getting looks from Alabama and Clemson while still pledged to the Gators. When UF hires a new secondary coach and breaks down recruiting areas instate, it will be better known if he is ready to jump back on-board.

He has mentioned Florida along with quite a few other schools. He hasn't given any indication of being ready to name a leaderboard, much less narrow things down or make a commitment. More will be known here after the spring evaluation period.

Florida was one of the top schools he talked about early on, after camping with the Gators several years ago. Instate Alabama has offered, and we know how that normally plays out.

Florida was the outright leader over the spring and summer, but he has opened up to new options during the fall. Look for the Gators to try to reestablish a relationship with him over the spring.

He actually committed to Florida back in the spring, but then immediately decommitted. Watkins then told Rivals that he was ready to pull the trigger again over the summer (remember the front page banner), but again his mother wouldn't give the go ahead. The Gators are in the running, but he has been picking up more offers. One thing, there aren't a ton of top linebackers in the coming cycle and that is a position you may see him grow into.
