Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek offensive lineman T.J. Moore made his first visit to the University of Florida since his commitment. The four-star big man has been to Gainesville once in the past, but was able to see many new parts of Florida’s campus that he had not seen previously.

“It was good I give it a 12 out of 10,” said Moore of the visit. “Me and Coach Nuss and Coach Mac built a great relationship. We actually found out that my dads cousins, cousin works at Florida in the strength training department. We did a lot on the weekend. I hung out with the coaches and players a lot. We ate a lot, like every minute of the day. I wish I didn’t have to come back to Charlotte, and just stayed there and got to work. Hopefully I go down there and do my thing and play and get my degree. I am trying to get down there to enroll in May instead of June.”

According to Moore, the highlight of his entire visit was getting a chance to spend Sunday at head coach Jim McElwain’s house. During his time there, he was able to see McElwain and his family in their own environment.

“Coach Mac’s house is beautiful, probably one of the nicest houses I have ever been in. He had a pool inside of his house and it was just nice. His wife is so nice. I played a song by the rapper Kodak Black and she was just dancing to the song and she was so cool. I just felt like part of their family.”

One of the big questions Moore had heading into this visit was the future of the offensive line coaching position with the recent loss of Mike Summers. While on campus, McElwain was able to give Moore a little more insight.

“Really they know who the guy is, but they can’t tell me for some reason,” said Moore. “I think they have to wait to release it. They said he’s an outstanding person and I will really like him. Hopefully it’s a great coach and we will build a great relationship. So they do having someone in mind, but I just have to wait to find out who it is.”

Another high point for the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder was spending time with the many other prospects committed to Florida this weekend. Moore has been in touch with many of the other commits through text message and social media, but was able to meet many of them in person for the first time over the weekend.

“I am not a quiet person at all and I like to get to know people fast and open up. We hung out the first night we were in Gainesville and that was when everyone opened up. We became brothers this weekend and we all hung out with each other. We also all sat down together for a meeting at the hotel and talked about coming in and making an impact at Florida and trying to get to work as soon as possible. I think we have a great class coming in. We also have some commits that haven’t released it yet so our class isn’t even done yet. I can’t tell you who you will have to wait till signing day.”

Like many of the other prospects committed to Florida, Moore was also in the ear of many of the uncommitted targets in attendance. He feels Florida made a big impact on them.

“I hung around Elijah [Conliffe] like the whole weekend, we hung out like the whole time with a few players. He told me he liked it a lot down there after he started to open up on Saturday. We had a conversation and he told me he loved Florida and everyone showed him a great time. I saw the linebacker [Nicholas Smith] too and I think he’s coming too. I saw him sitting down with Coach Mac and I could see them vibing together and he was smiling a lot.”

Heading into this visit to Florida, Moore was uncertain of weather or not he would visit the Auburn Tigers the final weekend before signing day. However, after spending the last few days in Gainesville, Moore says he will be shutting things down for good.

“I am actually not taking it,” said Moore of an Auburn visit. “I fell in love with Florida so much so I am shutting down my recruitment. So everything is good.”
