Miami (Fla.) Southridge 2018 wide receiver Mark Pope was one of the top underclassmen in attendance for Florida's 32-0 shut out of North Texas.
The Rivals100 member has visited Florida in the past, but was able to see his first ever game in The Swamp this past Saturday.
“I loved it,” said Pope. “I loved it with the fans, the coaches, and the players around it. I was really watching my position today and watched what the receivers are going to do and how they did. I think they played real good today.”

The Florida offense showcased several true freshmen on Saturday night, with wide receivers Josh Hammond and Freddie Swain seeing significant playing time. Seeing the Gators use first year players impressed the 2018 four-star player.
“Seeing them having a lot of playing time as a freshman, and knowing Antonio Callaway got a lot of playing time as a freshman, to me I have the talent to come in and play.”
After the game the 6-foot-1, 162-pounder was able to talk with a few of the Florida coaches.
“They tell me and stay on me saying they like me and stuff and saying I can come in and play and compete for a spot. That’s really it.”
Pope was joined on the trip by fellow Southrdige teammates and 2017 Florida commits Kemore Gamble and Shawn Davis. The two Gator pledges have been urging Pope to join them at the next level.
“They tell me if I play on the same team as Shawn [Davis] we can go against each other in practice every day and make each other better. That’s like my brother and I play on the same side of the ball as Kemore Gamble. It’s like, why not come and play with my brothers? They’re in my ear a lot.”
It’s been Alabama and Florida at the top for Pope over the last few months. At this time there has been no change.
“Everything is opened up right now so I don’t really know,” said Pope. “Florida and Alabama are right there above everyone else.”
