Last week Florida sent Tampa area recruiter Chris Rumph by Tampa (Fla.) Plant High School to see athlete Juwan Burgess, a Southern California commitment. After getting that visit from the Gators the three-star decided to lock in an official visit to Gainesville.
“I set the visit up with Coach [Chris] Rumph and I told him that I wanted to take my official to Florida this weekend,” said Burgess. “He told me that was okay, so I am going up there weekend to spend some time. There are a lot of guys like DaQuon Green, Malik Davis and Zach Carter I know that are like my brothers, they will be up there too.”

Florida will once again visit the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder this coming Thursday at his high school when Coach Rumph stops by to see him. The two have been in contact off and on the last several months. According to Burgess he is very high on Rumph as well as defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.
“Coach Rumph is a guy you can open up and talk with because he is there as a mentor and not just a coach. They like me at defensive back - so I talk with Coach [Torrian] Gray too. I actually have known him since he was at Virginia Tech and I was at Blake High School. We’ve kept in touch since he’s been at UF.”

Being an in-state prospect, Burgess has been to Gainesville in the past, but it’s been a while. The goal for this weekend will be sitting down and hearing what the coaches have to say.
“I just want to see what they have to say and see how it compares to the Indiana visit I took last weekend. I really liked my time up there and thought Indiana was better than what I expected. So I just want to see if I get that same feeling at Florida that I did on my other visits.”
Burgess says he is still committed to the Trojans and has been since the beginning of August, but has no plans to officially visit before Signing Day.
“My only visits are Indiana and Florida, that last weekend I will probably stay home and just talk over with my parents. I don’t really know what I want to see on these other visits and see what else is out there.”
