Garmon Randolph is an impressive 6-foot-6 junior tight end from Jefferson, Ga. High School. But despite his size, he probably wasn’t too well known outside of his high school football conference until last week.

That’s because, until recently, Randolph was just another three-star prospect who held a scholarship offer from Texas State. He’s a dangerous matchup on the high school football field, without question, and someone opposing coaches would have to scheme for. But he wasn’t someone who was known coast-to-coast.

It seems like that could change very quickly. That’s because Randolph now holds a scholarship offer from the Florida Gators

“I just went up there for a game visit and they offered,” Randolph replied when asked about his scholarship offer from Florida. “It means a lot, it’s a Power 5 school.”

He says he’s been in contact with most of the Gator coaching staff and that they like him because of what he does outside of the passing game.

“Because I can block,” Randolph said when asked why Florida’s coaches like him. “Most tight ends don’t know how to block nowadays because they just catch the ball. I can do both.”

Not only was he excited to receive a scholarship offer from an SEC power, he also thoroughly enjoyed his trip to Gainesville, Fla.

“It was great,” Randolph said when asked about the trip to Florida. “The atmosphere was amazing. it was really nice to see the school.”

That trip could be his last for a while. Randolph says he doesn’t have any other visits planned. He also says he’ll take his time before making a commitment. Despite the fact that Florida was his first scholarship offer from, Randolph says he’s in contact with many, many different football programs.
