On Saturday night the Jim McElwain era kicks off in Gainesville when the Florida Gators take on New Mexico State in the Swamp. Despite a late kickoff and a lackluster opponent, the Gators are still expected to have some top targets in the South endzone to watch the match up.

The Gators are expected to have several of their 2016 commitments in attendance, with Cocoa (Fla.) Rivals100 cornerback Chauncey Gardner as the headliner. Gardner has been the Gators biggest recruiter thus far, so expect him to be in the ear of a few Saturday night.
A few other commits that are expected as well are Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge athlete Tyrek Tisdale, Theodore (Ala.) running back LaMical Perine, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines wide receiver Rick Wells, Mount Dora (Fla.) center Brett Heggie, Winter Gardens (Fla.) West Orange offensive tackle Stone Forsythe and Dade City (Fla.) Pasco cornerback Jayvaughn Myers.
Two 2017 commitments also expected in - Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback Jake Allen and Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech wide receiver Daquon Green.
As far as targets go, the Gators are expected to have three of the top pass catcher in the country in attendance on Saturday night. The biggest expected visitor is five-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers, who will be at the game with his brother, Jayvaughn Myers. The Gators have skyrocketed up Craig-Myers' leader-board after a couple visits to Gainesville over the summer. Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are all schools in the running here.
Another Rivals100 receiver expected in is Miami commit Sam Bruce. The four-star has visited UF a couple times in the past, and is planning to check out his good friend - and former teammate - Jordan Scarlett play in his first collegiate football game. Bruce has been committed to Miami for some time now, but continues to mention visits to other schools. Florida is the only school other than Miami that has been able to get him on campus. There is still a long way to go with the season just starting, but if the Hurricanes struggle, then Florida will likely be where he ends up.
The other top pass catcher expected is Citra (Fla.) North Marion Rivals250 wide receiver Freddie Swain, who will make the short trip up to Gainesville. This is another prospect that Florida has skyrocketed up the leaderboard for, and very well could be the team to beat where things stand. Tennessee is the other contender here, but with the closeness to Gainesville, one has to wonder how many times Swain will catch a game in the Swamp this season. His teammate and fellow four-star Jordan Woods will also be with him for the game.
A few other visitors from the 2017 class expected in are Ohio State commit Bruce Judson, running back Adarius Lemons, Rivals250 defensive end Zachary Carter, defensive end Jonathon MacCollister, wide receiver Rodney Scott, and Georgia commit Devonta Smith.
