It didn't take Florida long to pick up their first commitment from their Friday Night Lights Camp. Just an hour after registration began, Boca Raton (Fla.) tight end Dante Lang decided to pull the trigger for the Gators.

Actually, since he also camped at Florida yesterday, working out but not participating in Sensational Sophomore Night, he had a jump on the other campers.

After the camp the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder talked to Inside the Gators about what the Florida coaches had to say to him.

"They’ve been trying to get me up here, to be honest, see the campus again," stated Lang. "Last time I was up here was the spring game. So now that I’m up here, that’s good for them. It’s good for me, too.”

Lang spent most of the evening with Florida tight ends coach Greg Nord.

From the sounds of it, he enjoyed the experience.

“All cool people to be honest. Everybody is just chill. They’re like more than a football team, they’re like a family to be honest. They’ll catch me, call me, ‘Oh, how’s your family doing?’ Sometimes, it won’t even be about me. It’ll be about my mom or my little sisters or little brothers and stuff like that.”

It may have looked as though Lang, who has over 20 offers to date, committed out of nowhere, especially after Thursday when he declined to name a leader, but instead declared a top four of Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky and LSU.

However, according to Lang, he knew coming in he was ready to become a Florida Gator.

“I knew I was going to commit three weeks ago,” explained Lang. “I called my coach, coach Davis and told him I was done with everything, I was done with recruiting I was going to pick a team, I was going to pick UF because how they come together and everything.”

It was news that the Florida staff was happy to hear today.

Lang detailed how the pledge went down.

“What happened was I walked into the office, I was talking to the coach [Jim McElwain] and he was asking me what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted to commit. When I told him I wanted to commit, Coach [Greg] Nord, he got real excited because no one really knew besides Coach [JaJuan] Seider.”

What also sold Lang on Florida was the way the Gators utilize their tight ends and the fact that a couple of them are leaving – giving him a shot at early playing time.

Lang said that though he is 100-percent committed he still planned to take his official visits for his mother's sake, to give her a chance to travel around a little.
