When talking about Apopka (Fla.) Class of 2018 offensive lineman, usually the first name to pop up is that of Rivals100 offensive tackle William Barnes. However, the Blue Darters have two national recruits along the line, the other being offensive tackle Ed Montilus.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder, who is racking up an impressive offer list, said that having two linemen who are national prospects is beneficial for each of them.

Iron sharpens iron.

“We're close friends, but we compete against each other,” said Montilus. “We push each other to make each other better.”

Not only is spring ball used to improve as a player and as a team, but it is also a feeding frenzy where college coaches to get to see the young men in action for evaluation – but not recruiting – purposes.
