Former Florida Player Feedback: Church's 10 Observations
Inside the Gators
Staff

Former Florida defensive end Johnie Church (1992-1995) shares 10 observations from the Gators' 31-10 loss to Arkansas.

1) Well, we stunk up the place to say the least. I was a little worried about playing on turf for the first time this season (I think) and against an opponent we rarely play in the SEC. We have to definitely forget about this and try to get recharged for a healthy and angry LSU team.

2) We are in bad shape on the injury front. We already had three defensive starters playing with casts and another with a high ankle sprain (it's better to break your ankle then get a high ankle sprain). Now, we're looking to miss Alex Anzalone for some time and Jarrad Davis will limited at best. I hate it for Anzalone because it looks like he's done for the year from the replay. It's an uphill battle with literally no depth at the linebacker position.

3) I'm still trying to understand our offensive identity and reasoning at this point. There's no flow or setup plays being called. We scored three offensive points on a defense who was one of the worst in the country.

4) I stated earlier that I liked Austin Appleby's game and thought he needed more opportunities when he played this season. I'm ready to see him get an opportunity to lead the offense. He throws a beautiful deep ball and has a strong arm. Plus, he can scramble a little bit we needed.

5) On the bright side, Kentucky lost and we are still in the driver's seat for the East title. Somehow, we have to grab on to that notion and find ways to upset our remaining SEC opponents.
