MONDAY UPDATE: Jim McElwain updated the status of numerous injured Gators during his press conference Monday.

Defensive end Bryan Cox (lower leg) is “probably still out,” while linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) and Cameron Dillard (knee) are “still out,” according to McElwain. Offensive lineman Martez Ivey (lower leg) will be “limited again” this week against Alabama.

“I’ve got to say how proud I am of Martez Ivey to give it an effort last week,” McElwain said. “Kavaris (Harkless) had to come in and play quite a bit, obviously. But it just shows his toughness and his want.”

As for safety Nick Washington (ankle), McElwain he will be “probably be out again. I know he’s going to try everything he can to go, but as of right now he’s out.”

McElwain reiterated that Jordan Sherit (knee) would miss Saturday’s contest and that the redshirt junior defensive end will need surgery.

Linebacker Daniel McMillian is day-to-day with a shoulder injury he played through during Saturday’s contest. Defensive back Duke Dawson won’t practice for a couple of days, but the team hopes to get him back by Wednesday. “The jury is out on that one.”

The team is hoping to know more on the status of wide receiver Ahmad Fulwood by Wednesday, while safety Jeawon Taylor (undisclosed) is out. McElwain wouldn’t disclose the injuries of both players when asked, but added, “One of them is in an arm sling, so I don’t think it’s his leg.”

The Gators will be without another starter when they square off against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game next Saturday in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Defensive end Jordan Sherit (knee), who suffered his injury during Florida’s 31-13 loss at FSU, won’t play against the Crimson Tide and will “definitely be out,” Jim McElwain said Sunday during the SECCG coaches teleconference. Sherit was seen on crutches after Saturday’s game.

Meanwhile, McElwain wouldn’t rule out linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) but listed him as doubtful. Davis tested out his ankle during warm-ups before the FSU contest but wasn’t able to play Saturday, as he soon returned to the sideline wearing a jersey over sweats.

“Here’s one thing I know about him: I’d never count him out,” McElwain said. “But at the same time, I’d say it’s pretty doubtful. What he was able to do in the Georgia game, that was something pretty special. But that would be some tough sledding with where he’s at. But you know what? I know everybody here wants to play in this game.”

Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio (shoulder), who has missed the past three games for the Gators, was dressed Saturday for the first time since suffering his injury at Arkansas on Nov. 5. Austin Appleby will remain the Gators’ starter, as McElwain discussed Del Rio’s level of availability Sunday.

"What we kind of did is we wanted to make sure if there was something that happened to Austin, like his helmet came off, Luke could go in there and function until we could get him back," McElwain said. "If it was a long-term deal, we'd still go ahead with Feleipe (Franks) to go win the game.”
