ITG Subscriber Mailbag, Pt. 2: Breaking down key contributors on offense

With spring practices in the books, Inside the Gators saw its subscribers submit a number of questions they had about the Florida football team. After running part 1 on Thursday, today we answer questions about key contributors on offense.

From tbod41: Is Tyrie Cleveland ready to break out? Seems like Antonio Callaway, Brandon Powell, Joshua Hammond and Dre Massey have gotten more publicity during spring. I'm not complaining, I just projected him to be a solid No. 2 behind Callaway this season.

Watnick: It was somewhat of a quiet spring for Cleveland, who made some noise in portions of practice open to media with a few spectacular grabs but didn’t necessarily solidify a role in the 1’s this spring. Due to the shortage of available wideouts in practices, Antonio Callaway and Brandon Powell worked with the 1’s in a two-tight end set while Joshua Hammond and Cleveland were with the 2’s. When Florida did roll out three receivers, Cleveland and Hammond would alternate reps with the first-team offense.

Cleveland was targeted three times by Kyle Trask in the spring game but went without a catch, as one of Trask’s deep passes was slightly underthrown but hit Cleveland in the chest.

Sure, he didn’t take a huge leap forward this spring, but he still figures to be an integral piece of the puzzle at wideout this fall. Maybe he has a better summer and fall camp, but I still do believe he’ll be heavily involved this year. Will he absolutely break out as a sophomore? We’ll have to see more this offseason before reaching any definitive conclusions.
