Florida's first Jr. Day of the recruiting cycle gave the new Gators coaching staff an opportunity to connect with and make an impression on many of the top targets on their board.

For one such visitor, he saw enough to make his college decision.

Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin three-star linebacker Jammal Abrams informed Inside the Gators that he pulled the trigger and committed to Florida.

As to why he made the plunge, "I love the coaches' honesty, the love. The atmosphere, I just love it all."

Abrams said that he thought that he might commit while on his way to the visit.

It didn't take long for that to become reality.

“It was during the beginning,” explained Abrams. “Coach Mullen brought me into his office and said that he wants me to come here. He wants me bad and he can see me playing as a Florida Gator. I said, 'I can see see myself playing down here as well.”

He said he plans on returning to campus for the Orange and Blue Debut as well as the 2018 season opener.

While most of the visit went according to plan, there was one thing that didn't.

“One thing I didn't expect was the bats,” said Abrams. “I did not know they had bats down here. That stood out a lot."

Though Abrams said, 'I'm 110-percent committed, no ands, ifs and buts about it,' he still plans on attending Tennessee's Jr. Day next weekend.

While that may be worrisome to those in the Gator Nation, according to Abrams, he is solid, even if Alabama and Auburn offer.

"I think once you commit somewhere, you set a standard that that's where you want to be. If that's where you want to be, you should stay there."
