McElwain: Tempo issues are on me

Five games through the season, one of the most talked-about stats surrounding Florida is number of plays. In five games, the Gators have run only 304 plays, an average of 60.8 plays per game, which ranks No. 124 in the NCAA.

On its final possession, Florida ran only six plays as more than two minutes of the final 4:01 ticked off the clock. Sophomore running back Lamical Perine revealed that part of the problem Saturday was getting the play in, which head coach Jim McElwain said is on him.

“It’s on me," the coach said. "It’s on me for ultimately not having, from the communication piece, making sure that it’s not too big, right? And yet, big enough to give you an advantage. I’ve got to continue to work on that.”
