3-2-1: Sunday thoughts on Florida's loss to LSU

Following a tough loss to LSU, Inside the Gators now reviews the past week with a 3-2-1 report. We provide three observations, present two questions and make one prediction as the Gators head into a match-up with Texas A&M next Saturday.

Three things we learned this week:

1. A one-dimensional offense won't work.

It is safe to say that Florida is using a run-first offense, especially with redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks at quarterback. The Gators ran 38 times and passed only 16 times against LSU, and were similarly close to a 2:1 ratio against Vanderbilt in Week 5. Freshman Malik Davis and sophomore Lamical Perine are providing consistent production, but it wasn't enough on Saturday in the fourth quarter.

In those final three possessions down 17-16, the Gators needed some form balance on offense. Unable to complement the run with the pass, Florida's offense stalled out. It takes both the run and the pass to beat a defense coached by Dave Aranda.

2. Chauncey Gardner Jr. can be an effective safety.
