McElwain: 'Tough one to swallow,' but wounded Gators must move on

Jim McElwain entered Saturday 9-1 on games decided by eight points or less as Florida's head coach, but this time he came out on the losing end of a close call, falling 17-16 to LSU.

“This one is a tough one to swallow. It hurts. It really does," McElwain said. "We were prepared. We knew they were going to come in with everything, and they did. That’s what good team do when their backs are against the wall, especially with good players.

"I thought it was a clean and physical battle. I thought both teams played hard. They controlled the time of possession and the clock and won on third down and didn’t turn the ball over. Ultimately in doing that they came out successful. They physically took it to us pretty good.”
