According to multiple reports, Florida is in the market for a new football coach after parting ways with Jim McElwain on Sunday. A national search will take place and no news on a hire is expected until the off-season. That’s all to say that, at least for awhile, uncertainty will take hold in Gainesville.

Rivals.com spoke with a group of Florida commits and compiled social media reaction from around the recruiting landscape as the news broke.

"It's sad he was fired, but that doesn’t change anything for me. I’ll always be a Gator."

"Florida is still one of my top schools."

"Florida is still high on my list if they keep Coach [Brad] Davis."

"McElwain getting fired doesn't mean much. I will continue to keep the process going."

"That means a lot to me, he was a good person. We had a good relationship and I hope everything works out for him in the future."

"The University of Florida is still the University of Florida."

"It’s a bad situation. I'll have to wait and see what happens to the rest of the coaching staff, but Florida is still high on my list."

"I think that it was the right move for them to move on as a program as I've hear many things from players. And to me I'm going for a school not the coaches. The only thing is if the new coach would be alright with me doing both football and track."

"I'm still 100% committed to the Gators."

"Nothing has changed. His decision is solid. One has nothing to do with the other. He is solid with his decision, regardless of what happens with the coaches." - Kelly Pitts, father of tight end commit Kyle Pitts.

“It just affects me because I had built a great relationship with coach Mac. I’m just focused on my season right now, though.”

“No interviews please. I have a lot going on right now.”

"It’s overwhelming, man. I'm just focused and locked in on my season right now."

When it comes to those currently committed to Florida, it sounds as if they all got together (via a group message/chat and decided not to comment on the situation.
