Spence committed, down to two
KISSIMMEE, Fla. | Maryland defensive tackle commit Camaron Spence did not make his official visit to Louisville last weekend as expected. According to him there was no need to because with just over a week left until National Signing Day, the Washington (D.C.) St. Johns College High product is down to two schools.

“My parents and I still have some things to talk about but I would say it’s basically Maryland and Florida right now,” Spence told Inside the Gators Tuesday.
The three-star big man used his last official visit the weekend of January 13th to see the Florida Gators. That visit to Gainesville was the first time in awhile that Spence had been on Florida’s campus. More then a week after the visit it seemed the Gators still had made a lasting impression.
“They have some things academically I like with their great Sports Broadcasting program. That kind of keeps them in the loop a little bit. They play in the SEC, so that is big and they have the chance to play early. I like the laid back way Coach Mac does things where he doesn’t pressure guys. He told me he isn’t a guy to pressure someone and to make the best decision for me.”
In particular it was the Gators' depth chart that stood out to the 6-foot-2, 309-pounder.
“They told me on my visit they have four interior guys coming back and if someone was to get hurt they would be down to three. You need more than that to rotate to keep things going and help guys from getting tired. So they offer a chance to play early in the SEC as a true freshman.”
Still, Spence remains committed to Maryland, and maintains that verbal pledge is solid. He admits the loss of defensive line coach Mike London has him wondering who his future position coach will be, but there are other coaches on the Terps' staff he is also very close with.
“Coach [D.J.] Durkin is a defensive coach and Coach Aazaar [Abdul-Rahim] has been a family friend of mine from before I started playing football. I am not so much worried about the D-line coach as I would if Durkin or Aazaar were to leave. Then I would worry more and pull back. It’s all up to getting on my knees and praying to the Lord and he controls my destiny and my life. Whatever he thinks is best for me I will go with. I am just leaving it like that.”
