Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley four-star linebacker Channing Tindall is part of the new breed of players at his position. At 6-foot-2, 206-pounds the Rivals250 prospect looks like a linebacker, but as proven by his performance in the Gauntlet during Saturday's Rivals Five-Star Challenge, he runs like a defensive back.
There is no question that he is one of the most coveted prospects in the southeast, the only unknowns at this point are which position he will eventually line up at and for which program he will suit up.
Of the schools standing out to him at this time, Tindall said he is receiving mixed signals as to whether he will play inside or outside at the next level.
“Some of the coaches say inside, some say outside, some say both,” replied Tindall when asked about whether he projects to inside or outside linebacker.
For his part, Tindall said that where he is projected to line up won't have a bearing on where he signs.
While his future position may still be up in the air for a while, where he commits won't be.
He has already set a time-line to release a top five and then make an announcement.
“I'm not really ready to release my top five yet,” said Tindall. “I'm going to make my commitment in September so I'll have my final five in about three weeks from now.”
When it comes to recruiting, though he didn't want to name a leader or leaders, he said four teams stand out as both he is interested in and they are recruiting him the hardest at this time.
