While there are no sure things in recruiting, early on in the 2018 recruiting cycle it looked like Florida was a good bet to land Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star offensive guard Curtis Dunlap.

Back in March, the massive lineman, who is originally from Jacksonville told Inside the Gators that he grew up a fan of the Florida Gators.

“It’s early in my recruiting process, but I know a lot about Florida and I have been a fan of them since I was six years old. Being from Jacksonville [Ed White High School] I lived just under an hour away from Gainesville, so going there and being able to watch a game is easy. Florida I can’t say will be my top school when that comes around, but Florida is going to be really hard to not rank highly.”

Then, it seemed like Oklahoma entered the picture and for a while it was the Gators and Sooners conisdered to be the front runners.

In April he tweeted out a final five of Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma - but has been kind of quiet since then.

Well, today he broke the silence by committing to the Gators - breaking the news via Twitter.

Breakdown of Dunlap at The Opening

On the line, Curtis Dunlap was very impressive during drills. Early on some thought of him as a tackle because of his length, but he played mostly inside and has a fantastic build for an interior offensive lineman. He also took a few reps at center which shows very good versatility. He's got very violent hands and a lot of mass. He will need a bit of ‘reshaping’ like many high school linemen, but was impressive nonetheless.
