After observing two practices as head coach, Randy Shannon may be close to naming Florida's starting quarterback for Saturday's game at Missouri.

"Maybe tomorrow," Shannon said when asked when he'll name the starter. "We don’t go until Saturday. I won’t do that to you guys. That’s always the thing about it. Probably tomorrow (or) Thursday.”

Redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks has started six of seven games, but has only completed three of those starts. On the season, he is 75-of-125 for 830 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. Against Georgia, he was 7-of-19 for 30 yards with an interception before being pulled for graduate transfer Malik Zaire. The former Notre Dame quarterbacks was 3-of-6 for 36 yards along a 27-yard run, leading Florida's to its only touchdown in the 42-7 loss.

Shannon indicated both are doing well this week in practice.

“Good, good, we’re rotating guys," Shannon said of the competition. "Malik will take a period with the one's (first-team), and then the next time we go to another period Feleipe will take one. It’s good. You see those guys compete, talking and communicating. The best thing about it is when you compete every day it brings the best out of you.”
