Interim coach Randy Shannon spoke to the media Monday to recap Florida's 45-16 loss to Missouri and preview the upcoming match-up against South Carolina.

* The nine suspended players will be making their court appearances over the next two weeks. Shannon did not indicate there was any change in their status with the team.

* Shannon again said kicker Eddy Pineiro "mishit" about five kicks.

* Sophomore linebacker David Reese's comments calling out his teammates makes him a leader, according to Shannon.

* Graduate transfer Malik Zaire will remain the starting quarterback. Shannon says Zaire didn't do anything to hurt the Gators on Saturday.

* Lack of leadership problem started with injury to safety Marcell Harris, who Shannon called the "alpha" of the team.

* Shannon says Florida is still a top job for the next coach. He points to recruiting opportunities as well as young talent on the current roster.

* There will be no change in offensive play-calling. He says injuries have been an issue on offense.

* Redshirt freshman left guard Brett Heggie will be out for the year with a lower extremity leg injury.

* Sophomore defensive end Jachai Polite and freshman athlete Kadarius Toney will not play against South Carolina. Neither player made the trip to Missouri.

* Shannon said he was hard on freshman cornerback CJ Henderson for the pass play he appeared to give up on early. Shannon said he will not "break [Henderson] down."

* Shannon does not read local media, watch ESPN or use Twitter during the season.

* Zaire "controlled the game and made some throws," according to Shannon.

* Shannon would not say whether he agrees with Reese's main point that players "quit."

* Asked about recruiting, Shannon points out he's made calls over the last couple weeks, including Sunday night. Multiple commitments told Shannon "they're still ready to come." He says he reminded them staff may not be there.

* Shannon praised South Carolina's defense for the way it plays man coverage under coach Will Muschamp.

* The Missouri game was "huge" for redshirt junior wide receiver Dre Massey. Shannon said coaches need to find a way to get the ball in his hands.

* Quarterbacks Kyle Trask and Jake Allen have both been injured and yet to be cleared by team doctors. Only two scholarship quarterbacks made the trip to Missouri.

* Freshman defensive back Shawn Davis will return this week. He did not travel last week.

* Shannon said playing South Carolina is like "playing another version of Florida" with all the familiar faces including Muschamp.
