1. Separation continues to grow in the quarterback race: Over the past week, Florida head coach Jim McElwain has indicated twice that there has been a little bit of separation in the quarterback competition between Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask this spring - and on Monday, he said that it's "sorting itself out." Although McElwain never indicated to local media how it's sorting itself out, it's become pretty clear for reporters who have been at each open portion of spring practice that Franks have gained the edge in the battle. In addition, later Monday, McElwain specifically told a national media member, ESPN's Chris Low, that Franks has separated himself this spring.
Franks has worked with the 1's in the 11-on-11 fastball drill at the start of spring practice in the past six open portions available to media (and in seven of eight total). Not only has Franks improved his mechanics in his pocket - his footwork looks better and his released shortened - but he's displayed excellent confidence and command running the offense. He still has room to grow as far as accuracy on certain routes and decision-making, but Franks has often hit targets on the deep ball this spring and shown tons of arm talent.
