Early Entry Profile: Kadeem Telfort
Landon Watnick
Inside the Gators

Now that all six of Florida's early enrollees have arrived on campus, over the next two days Inside the Gators will take a closer look at each of them with these quick player profile Q&A sessions.

Up next is Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington 6-foot-6, 323-pound offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort.

Gerta Telfort, the mother of the four-star lineman, spoke with Landon Watnick on Wednesday as she prepared her son for his trip to Gainesville.

How excited is Kadeem to get his college career started?

Mrs. Telfort: “He is transitioning from his comfort zone to something new, so it will be a battle. Getting used to the tutors and playing and making sure the transition is going smooth. It’s going to be a challenge because he hasn’t been away from home for a long period of time. It’s going to be strange for me and strange for him. He is excited to transition to college and get on campus and get his foot in The Swamp.”

You had said in the past that you favored Miami because it kept him closer to home. What did Florida do to assure you he would be in good hands?

Mrs. Telfort: “Basically he was committed to Miami until he went up to Florida for a visit and then decided he wanted to decommit. I didn’t really get a chance to see Florida for myself until the official visit. The in-home visit from the coaches at Florida helped and I was able to get a lot of my questions answered, so it eased my worries. I was able to see where he was living and how close everything is. His wishes were to get away from Miami and be a man.”

What things about Florida did Kadeem fall in love with the most?
