Florida suffers first big decommitment of 2018 cycle

It took longer then expected, but 10 days after Florida and Jim McElwain decided to go their separate ways, the Gators suffered their first public decommitment on Wednesday night when Metairie (La.) Rummel Rivals100 wide out Ja'Marr Chase decided to open back up his recruiting process.

Despite his commitment to Florida, Chase, the No. 50 rated prospect in the Rivals100, had already visited home state LSU on a couple of occasions but has recently been linked to Georgia - the school his teammate Aaron Brule is committed to and TCU.

With the subtraction of Chase, Florida still has five wide outs committed in the Class of 2018: Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia four-star Jacob Copeland headlines the list, and is jonied by Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic three-star Corey Gammage, St. Petersburg three-star Jalynn Williams, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington three-star Tyquan Thornton and Miami (Fla.) Northwestern three-star Nigel Bethel.
