Notebook: Confusion on kickoffs, veteran Gators excited to face old coach

For the first seven games of the year, opponents did not register a kickoff return against Florida as redshirt junior kicker Eddy Pineiro often boomed his kicks out of the end zone. Against Missori, however, Pineiro switched it up and kicked to the goal line. As a result, the Tigers returned the ball three times, averaging 32.67 yards per return.

"Eddy mishit about five kicks, no rhyme or reason," Shannon said at his Monday press conference. "He was not trying to pooch it. He just mishit it. He’s done it all year, so there were a lot of inconsistencies with the football team."

Pineiro met with reporters later Monday and offered a different reason for the shorter kicks.
