One of the biggest issues Florida against Missouri was a struggle to score touchdowns inside the red zone. On average, Florida is middle of the pack in the SEC (No. 7) in red zone touchdown percentage (65), but the Gators settled for field goals twice on fourth downs inside the 20-yard line as Mizzou jumped out to a 28-6 lead at the half.
On Tuesday, interim coach Randy Shannon had his team working on red zone situations.
"Today, we worked a lot in the red zone of keeping people out of the end zone but also scoring when we have an opportunity," Shannon said. "Had a couple of situationals in the red zone today, put the ball on the 6-yard line, zero timeouts, 16 seconds left to go in the game. You have to get two plays in. Just making the quarterback knowing, don’t take a negative play, but also get the ball out of your hand because we’ve got another play."
The Gators also worked on starting field position.
