Not to dismiss an entire state, but when talk turns to the top college football talent producing states in the high school ranks, West Virginia isn't exactly a state that is normally part of the discussion.
While most of the debate centers on states such as California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, in the Class of 2018 Fairmont (WV.) Senior four-star defensive lineman Dante Stills is here to prove the doubters wrong.
This coming weekend he has a chance to further cement his standing as one of the top linemen in the nation when he competes in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas.
“I'm going to represent my family, my town and my state,” explained Stills. “There's a lot of players in my state who don't get as much notice as they should – because I guarantee you there are a lot of kids here who can go up against anyone in the country. I had to get out there by going to camps, going to college camps to see where I am and then came back and worked.
“I'm really just proud to represent my state.”
After a strong spring the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder was one of the biggest risers in the updated Rivals250, moving up 43 spots to No. 146 overall in the nation.
He has a ton of offers to go with that lofty ranking, but over the weekend he tweeted out that he is focusing on a top three.
With there being no order to the top three, he gave his reasoning as to why the trio made the cut.
